Hi.
Today is my birthday, and it’s got me thinking…
Every time I put out a book, I time it close to my birthday.
It’s not just about launching something new—it’s about marking time. Writing has always been my way of processing what I see, teaching what I’ve learned, and giving back. And From Buzz to Bond, which drops in 6 days, is no different.
This one, like all the others, was born from a mix of observation, frustration, and love. I wrote it because I care deeply about musicians. And because I see too many of them getting stuck in a cycle of chasing hype instead of building connections.
But underneath that is something even more personal.
I grew up with two very different kinds of parents.
My dad was an artist. A gifted filmmaker who had once seen great success, but who couldn’t quite adjust as the industry shifted. I had a front-row seat to what happens when creativity collides with change, and the result is paralysis. My dad struggled deeply, and it was heartbreaking to witness. I wanted so badly to help him, but I didn’t have the tools.
My mom was the opposite. She adapted. She built a business, wrote bestselling books, and created communities to help other women rise. She spoke in 40 countries and guided a generation of women toward financial independence and leadership. Watching a woman build a business, write books, and create communities to help others gave me the blueprint for doing the same.
My books are a direct reaction to three very personal truths:
- Music saved me—as a child who struggled to learn in the way my peers did, music was my bridge to learning and understanding.
- Watching an artist suffer made me want to create tools that empower creatives.
- Watching a woman build something powerful showed me how to do the same, with clarity, structure, and heart.
On my birthday, I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge where I come from—and why I do what I do.
If you feel moved, I’d be honored if you’d
